“Very true.” It was actually quite nice to not suffer through honorifics and salutes. She proceeded. “I see there’s little trouble nowadays. Other than a petty criminal or two.” Her gaze averted for a moment. “Does the job get dull?”

“These days, it’s mostly just making sure people have enough food and water, and keeping an eye out for people who look to make a buck off the less fortunate. …or, well, an eye out in the figurative sense.” He laughs a bit at his own expense. “I wouldn’t say dull. Sad, some days, but helping people reminds me why I do this.”

She could sympathize. “If there’s anything I could do to help, my schedule’s quite open.” A nod— the slightest upturn of her lips. “Shore leave. Gets boring sitting around twiddling my thumbs. Shooting range is all I have to do to get me by. Could be dedicating my time to something useful.”

“Being alive’s something these days, at the very least, ma’am,” he responds, mandibles spreading a bit.

“Hah.” Shoulders rolled. A small quirk of sorts, as her arms crossed. Funny thing about that. “I’d guess you’re right, sir. Fine a day as any to not be be pushin’ up daisies.”

He chuckles at that, giving a close approximation to a grin. “I can’t argue with that logic at all. I figure worrying can wait for when I really need it.”

“Ah. Evening, ma’am.” A curt nod. “Well enough, I suppose.”

She straightens, giving a brisk salute. “Ah. Good t’hear it, ma’am. My apologies; didn’t quite see yer face at first.”

A miniature frown. She was never one for being saluted and held in high regard. “No, it’s fine. I’m hardly on the job as it is—” Shore leave, actually.

A muted chuckle was expelled. Arm uplifted, and palm offered to the male in a show of a handshake. “I wasn’t aware Krogan could manage that.” A light jab. Nothing snide. She even seemed to be offering something a half smile. “Shame that you know about me, but I don’t know you. How about a name big guy?”

The large Krogan looked at the hand and then at the Human, but he still shook her hand as a sign of greeting. “Some of us aren’t as others would expect, Commander.” He released her hand and looked straight into her eyes. “They call me Jextor. Ever since, I have adopted that name.”

“Jextor.” Firm grip released after the handshake, her arms once more crossed neatly to her spine. Carefully formal. Though still quite open to light banter. “Nice to meet you. And I’m always glad to see that.” A nod. “You wouldn’t happen to be part of the Urdnot clan, would you? I’m quite familiar with them. More so than others.”

“Sure. Why d’bleedin’ hell not?” Buck laughed audibly. He wasn’t laughing at her but at the situation. When it came to the Reapers and everything else he’d faced a gender swapped version of himself wasn’t the weirdest thing he’d faced. “Let me take a wild guess too an’ say dis prob’ly ain’t the weirdest t’ing you’ve ever seen either.”

“No sir. Then again, when you’ve been dead, and with the Reapers— you kinda.. ‘seen it all’.” Dry humor? Perhaps. A step back was taken, however. Defensive still in her stance. Interesting accent; She was just a plain ‘ol Michigan girl herself. Seemed this ‘Shepard’ wasn’t only different so far as gender went. “A welcomed ‘weird’ more or less. Better than recent events.”
